Spot Illustration: Fine-Line Brush Style
A collection of calligraphic spot illustrations done with the brush
I use fine brushes, watercolor and ink to create custom icons and spot illustrations. The line work is colorized in the computer or directly with watercolor or gouache. The styles are loosely divided into three categories that show different ways of handling line. Projects here include illustrations for cosmetics, children’s books and cookbooks, advertisements and product for Starbucks and Cinnabon, campaigns for Papyrus Greeting Cards and various retail campaigns and logos.
Spot illustration: Calligraphic brush illustration for editorial, advertising and product design
I have created spot illustrations for many different kinds of projects, ranging from books and magazines to advertising, packaging and product. Unlike royalty free or stock illustration the custom work I create will be unique to your design. I am often sent stock images as reference, but the best collaborations usually start with a conversation and a pencil sketch. I show these samples as a library of style to guide your vision. Although the majority of my work is sold with an exclusive or single-use license some of the images here are available to be licensed for reproduction. All of these designs are copyrighted by Iskra Design and may not be reproduced without permission.
